How do you talk about immigration and belonging in church without people immediately splitting into camps?

I have family stories that make this personal, but the minute the topic comes up some people hear party lines instead of actual people. I am looking for language that keeps the human weight in the room.

Specific stories help more than abstractions for me. Once real families and real fear are on the table, it gets harder to hide behind tribe language without noticing what it costs.

For me, church matters most when it gives people room to tell the truth without putting on a performance.
