    2. Too many plugins. Deactivate unused plugins. Keep under 10 for WordPress.
    3. No caching. Install a caching plugin (WordPress) or enable Wix caching.
    4. Slow hosting. Shared hosting is fine for small sites. If you have traffic, upgrade.

    Test Your Speed

  • SEO Basics for Small Business Websites

    What actually moves the needle.

    What Matters

    1. Google Business Profile. Claim it. Keep info current. Ask for reviews.
    2. Page titles. Every page needs a unique, descriptive title under 60 characters.
    3. Mobile speed. Slow sites rank lower. Compress images. Use caching.
    4. Local keywords. "Torrance auto shop" beats "best auto shop."
    5. Reviews. Google reviews are a ranking signal.

What Does Not Matter (for most small businesses)

    • Meta keywords (Google ignores them)
    • Submitting your site to 100 directories
    • Keyword stuffing
    • Buying backlinks
